If your Sunday afternoons in September and October are free, Jamsu Bridge（잠수교）is the right choice. From September 6 to October 25, every Sunday from 13:00 to 21:00, cars disappear from the bridge. Admission is free, and no advance reservation is required.

The venue covers Jamsu Bridge and the Banpo Hangang Park（반포한강공원）area. The venue runs in a straight line from the southern end of the bridge to the northern end. Markets are set up on both sides of the southern entrance, and visitors walk onward from there. The solo market is the one to watch. Since the participating regions change every other week, what is available varies depending on the week you visit. What to eat, from bunsik sets to churros

Moonlight Cafeteria’s menu includes bunsik (분식) sets, takoyaki, sweet-and-spicy fried shrimp (새우강정), and churros. It offers a lineup of street foods perfect for the Han River, designed for “snacking while walking” rather than a heavy meal.

One thing to note is the tableware. All food is served in reusable containers (multi-use containers), and dedicated return boxes are placed throughout the venue. Since the operation is designed to avoid disposable waste, it is considered good manners to look for a return box after finishing your food. Visitors also benefit from not having to wander around the bridge looking for a trash can.

Food you purchase can be eaten at the rest area mentioned below or on benches throughout the park. Bringing a picnic sheet gives you more options.

If you want to sit down and take a break, head to the Moonlight Picnic Rest Area (달빛 소풍 쉼터). This rest area features four-person tents and can be used with an online advance reservation or by registering on-site. Since there are limited places to escape the sunlight on the bridge, it is worth reserving if you are going with a group.

Another small but useful feature is the Jamsu Bridge Completion Event. Visit the information centers at the southern and northern ends of the bridge and collect verification stamps to receive a drink. Since the route from south to north doubles as the event, you can take part along the way. A prize event offering agricultural-product gifts is also held at the same time.

Editor’s note: There are two stamps, one at the southern end and one at the northern end. You will not complete the course with only one, so if your goal is the drink, plan your schedule on the assumption that you will “walk all the way to the northern end.”

The fall season adds a gourmet food road, yoga, running, and jazz

During the second-half season from September, the Gourmet Road, yoga, running, and jazz performances will be added to the regular programs. This is when the festival’s character changes from a place where people simply walk across the bridge to somewhere they can spend an entire Sunday evening. Since it runs until 9 p.m., you can also enjoy the Han River views after sunset.

However, it is affected by the weather. During the second week covered in this article, it rained all day, so the Moonlight Playground (달빛놀이터) and the special “Tobot Tobot Parade” program were canceled. Meanwhile, the regular programs under the bridge operated as usual, and the photo zones and market remained open. It is not a case of “everything is canceled because of the rain,” but programs may be scaled back or the festival itself may be canceled, so the safest option is to check the operating status on the official website’s announcements or official Instagram before setting out.
